Newhook became the first Montreal player since April 1997 to score multiple goals in consecutive NHL playoff games, a feat previously accomplished by Mark Recchi. In the third game of the quarterfinal series on the night of May 11, the Canadiens defeated the Buffalo Sabres 6-2 at the Bell Centre in Montreal.
